Five Signs of the Times | #3 Peace in the East
Now the Lord said to Abram… “I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you…”
Genesis 12:1-3, ESV
On September 15, 2020, a historic peace treaty was signed for peace in the middle east between the State of Israel and the United Arab Emirates. The desire is to establish a peaceful and prosperous future. The agreement was called the Abrahamic Accords Peace Agreement.
For those that know the Bible, this ought to signal something important. Abraham is the patriarch of the three major Abrahamic religions of the world—Judaism, Islam and Christianity.
Again and again, we see in the scriptures that God has promised to preserve his people. In Genesis 12:1-3 promises that he will make a great nation and will bless them. While there have been disputes on who’s entitled to this land and blessing this agreement brings a sign of the times of peace and yet a telling tale of the future war as well.
In Ezekiel 38-39 we discover a Russian, Iranian, Turkish Alliance forming against Israel in the future to wage war, while the Arab states seem calm and quiet and Israel at peace. The Bible speaks of a confederation of nations that include modern-day, Algeria, Lybia, Turkey, and Iran that will come against Israel in the future in what’s called the war of Gog and MaGog. What makes matters even more interesting, is the countries who are Islamic radicals hate this agreement just as the Bible has predicted would happen.
We ought to watch carefully and pray faithfully. Specifically, pray for the peace of Jerusalem and God’s protection of the Abrahamic Accord. In doing so this creates more successful and global partners in the middle east for the United States of America and a more peaceful world for all to enjoy. Read Genesis 12:1-3 and agree with God through prayer over this promise.
