Biblical Support for a Millennium Kingdom
Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Matthew 6:10, ESV
We are trying to build a better world. We see this in our laws and legislation. We talk about climate change environmentalism in global warming in the news. Well, there’s much debate about these issues in today’s times. There is no debate as to God’s plan and purposes for a New World that is to come. This begins at the thousand-year reign known as the millennium.
The earth will be renewed after the time of the tribulation, Christ will return to earth, He will take the throne of David and rule as king of the world from Jerusalem, from sea to shining sea. Jesus will bring peace and prosperity to the world. The Antichrist will have been defeated, (Revelation 19:11-21), Satan will be bound and for 1,000 years on earth and Jesus will reign as King with his Saints.
The world will experience peace and harmony like never experienced before since the Garden of Eden at creation. (Genesis 1-2) Many may ask about the biblical support for this idea. In Revelation 20:1-7, the words a thousand years appear six times.
While this is the only passage in the Bible that records the length of time for Christ reign on the earth it is certainly not the only passage that describes this millennial kingdom! The millennial kingdom is the primary subject of all prophetic passages. Here’s a sample list of my top 10 favorite prophetic passages describing the millennial kingdom.
- Isaiah 2:1-5
- Isaiah 11:1-16
- Isaiah 32:1-20
- Isaiah 35:1-10
- Isaiah 60:1-22
- Jeremiah 31:1-40
- Jeremiah 33-1-26
- Ezekiel 37:14-28
- Amos 9:11-15
- Zechariah 14:6-21
This millennial kingdom has many different names and references. It’s referred to as the kingdom, the kingdom of heaven, the kingdom of God, the world to come, the times of refreshing, the restoration of all things, and a kingdom that cannot be shaken!
