GROWING IN CHRISTIAN LIBERTY

United Series: Pt 28: Romans 14:1-12

CHRISTIAN LIBERTY IS....

Not a License to sin

For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

     Galatians 5:13 (KJV)

Not Legalism

Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.

      Galatians 2:16

Christian Liberty Is... the freedom we find in Christ work on our behalf, whereby we learn to not live in the fear of man but in faith unto God”

3 WAYS TO GROW IN CHRISTIAN LIBERTY...

#1 WELCOME OTHERS DESPITE YOUR OPINIONS (1-4)

  • We should not quarrel, despise or act judgmental towards each other
  • Christians are God’s Servants and He is the Master

Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.

     Romans 15:7

#2 ACT IN GOOD CONSCIENCE THAT YOU ARE DOING GOD’S WILL (5-9)

“I cannot choose but adhere to the word of God, which has possession of my conscience; nor can I possibly, nor will I even make any recantation, since it is neither safe nor honest to act contrary to conscience! Here I stand; I cannot do otherwise, so help me God! Amen.” - Martin Luther

Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath.

      Colossians 2:16

  • Strive to have a clear conscience before God and man (Acts 24:16)
  • Whatever you do it for God’’s Glory (1 Co 10:31)
  • The Holy Spirit works through your conscience (Ro 9:1)

#3 PLAN ON STANDING BEFORE GOD WHEN IT’S ALL SAID AND DONE (10-12)

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.

     2 Corinthians 5:10

  • Salvation is secure and final (Eph. 2:8-9)
  • Evaluation of your life deeds are TBD (I Cor. 3:15)

MAIN IDEA: LIVE FOR GOD ABOVE ALL
