Advent Conspiracy Part 1: Worship Fully

December 2, 2012 Pastor: Ryan Rice Series: Advent Conspiracy

Topic: Special Messages Scripture: Matthew 22:37–22:40

WORSHIP FULLY Worship- worship is to show value or worth of someone or something

Fully- with all that you have and all that you are

[37] “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. [38] This is the great and first commandment. [39] And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. [40] On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:37-40 ESV)

“Real Christianity so impacts the affections that it shapes ones fears, hopes, loves hatreds, desires, joys, sorrows, gratitude’s, compassion and zeal’s”

- Jonathan Edwards

TO FULLY WORSHIP THIS CHRISTMAS...

#1 WE MUST EXPERIENCE PEACE OF CHRIST

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6 ESV)

[8] And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. [9] And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. [10] And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. [11] For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. [12] And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” [13] And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” (Luke 2:8-14 ESV)

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1 ESV)

#2 WE WILL EXTEND THE PEACE OF CHRIST

All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation. (2 Corinthians 5:18 ESV)

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. (Matthew 5:9 ESV)

EXTEND PEACE BY...

1. Keeping a Short Account

[23] So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, [24] leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, (Matthew 5:23-24a ESV)

2. Listening More

Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear,

(James 1:19a ESV)

3. Go First to Confess

[16] Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

(James 5:16 ESV)

[6] And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6 ESV)
