Meet Karissa Dillon

Karissa Dillon

This is Karissa Dillon and her boyfriend, Dennis!  They are regular attenders at North Valley, and are also involved in a local Neighborhood Group. We recently had the opportunity of asking Karissa a few questions as she prepares to go public with her faith at North Valley's Baptism Sunday on November 3rd

NVCC:  Karissa, how long have you been attending North Valley and how did you first hear about us?

Karissa:  I started attending North Valley as a "CEO" (Christmas/Easter Only) back when it was called Imago Dei. Lori Spreitzer and her husband David took me every Easter and Christmas up until this last year when I decided I wanted to attend church every Sunday.

NVCC:  What have you enjoyed most about being a part of the North Valley Community so far?

Karissa: I love how the North Valley Community treats people. The church is inviting, Pastor Ryan shares personal stories that I can relate to, and everyone in the church looks out for the community as a whole. From saying a quick hello, to visiting the new fire station, to raising funds for mission trips internationally: it's incredible to see how the future is brighter with North Valley and its people in it.

NVCC:  Tell us a little bit about your faith journey.  What ultimately led to your decision to place your faith in Jesus?

Karissa: My journey started at about 15 years old. I grew up in a household that didn't have faith. When I moved into the Spreitzer home my Sophomore year of high school, faith was brought to my attention. Lori went to church every Sunday, and even spent an hour or two each week studying the previous message Pastor Ryan had shared. That's when I started looking into what she was studying and became a Christmas/Easter attender. I started to notice the environment and how it changed my view on life. A few years down the road, my car's transmission blew and I had no way of getting around. Pastor Ryan lent me his family car so that I could get around until I got a new car. That moment made me realize what it meant to serve like Jesus, to be a good neighbor, and it made we want to attend more often and see how I could grow in my faith. This last year, my boyfriend Dennis and I went to the Easter service, where we both decided to devote each Sunday to going to North Valley.

NVCC:  You have made the exciting decision to go public with your faith on November 3rd during our Baptism Sunday at North Valley!   Why have you decided to take this step?

Karissa: I am ready to give everything that I am to Him. For a long time, I was scared that I could never live up to the expectations of what it means to be a good Christian and to be baptized. Through Pastor Ryan's sermons and bible study, I have realized that crazy expectations aren't what being a Christian is about. It's about accepting Jesus into your life and understanding what he has done so that I can be forgiven. I want to share my faith and make the next step to building my relationship with God. I can't wait for November 3rd!

We are so excited for Karissa's upcoming baptism!  If you are reading this and you are ready to go public with your own faith in Jesus, we invite you to get registered to be a part of our Baptism Sunday on November 3rd.
