The Reason for the Season - Part 4: Trusting God Along the Faith Journey

December 17, 2017 Pastor: Ryan Rice Series: The Reason for the Season is Jesus

Scripture: Luke 2:1–2:7

The Christian life is a journey, not a destination. The journey begins when you commit your life to Jesus. There are incredible highs and the deepest lows and God is with you through it all. The destination in
this journey is an eternal life with God. Each of us must learn to trust the Lord on the journey. We will be tested and will need trust to understand God’s ways. Joseph and Mary undertook a journey from
Nazareth to Bethlehem. This fulfilled the Old Testament prophecy that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. The time came for the King of the Jews to be born. He was born in humble and disruptive circumstances that were beyond Joseph and Mary’s control. God uses disruptive circumstances in our lives for His purpose. What we choose to do with the disruption will determine our direction. God is
good and will help us navigate through it. Serving the Lord requires personal sacrifice as we set aside our own plans and desires for those of God. We each need to keep moving forward on our journey one step at a time.
